What does it mean to talk to someone's "inner child"??

a person is 30-40 years old, and this person just is broken down and talked to and treated like a child by even people younger than him?

is this possible?

why and how so?

  1. its part of transactional analysis, where the human personality is seen as 3 basic parts, the adult( the reasoning, thinking part we all have) the parent ( the part of our personality that usually reflects our own parents' and other primary caregivers' views) and child,the inner child who feels emotions and reacts either instinctively (free child) or tries to please others(adapted child).

    All of these aspects can present in people of all ages, so yes its possible for someone to talk to your 'inner child', no matter what age you are.

    As a way of explaining peoples way of seeing the world, it was first proposed by Eric Berne, who also wrote a book called Games People Play.
