What does it mean when God is referred to as the Rock?

Isaiah 26:4 -- Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.

(Please, I'm only looking for answers from Christians. No need to tell me that God doesn't exist. Thank you!)

  6. As man is said to have been created from the dust of the earth, among it strongest elements  within is the rock. Rock normally is the foundation of any structure people wanted to build in the time of Isaiah. now that rock is being replaced by concrete.

  14. Jesus is unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

    Any building made must be placed on a firm foundation- a rock, or down to the bedrock, lest it fall.

    The storms will come and difficulties will beset us all whether we live by the words of Christ or not; the difference is that by building our lives on the foundation of the words of Christ, we will be able to withstand the floods of distress when they come.

    Heaven and earth will pass away, but the words of Jesus Christ will never pass away.

    This is why Jesus is called the rock of ages.

    God has laid a foundation in Zion, a sure foundation; a foundation on which, if we build our lives we will be able to withstand all the onslaughts of the powers of evil.

    Jesus Christ is that sure foundation that God has laid in Zion.

    Moses was given "waters to live" by from rock in the desert. God provided it- Jesus is the "living waters"

    1 Corinthians 10:4 where it says that the Israelites ‘drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.’

    1Cr 3:11   For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

    Jesus is the foundation, the only foundation.
