What does it mean when Oprah says "Oprahs favorite things for summer"?

I don't understand this. Why are the people so excited? What is happening?

When Oprah has her "favorite things" show, she ends up giving the audience one of each of these favorite things.

In this last one, she did not give out the kinds of things she has given out in the past. The Weber grill is great--if you like to barbecue, but the rest... She has give out fridges, expensive phones, cameras, clothing, washers and dryers always the latest some of which are not readily available in the stores.

The audience must have thought that they would get that kind of "stuff".  That's why they were so excited.

What is happening?  I wonder too.
