Question:

What does it mean when a Gecko has this red blob going in and out of their neck?

Does it mean that they are in search of a mate?

Im in florida - it spooks me out :P

  1. I HIGHLY doubt what you are seeing is a gecko. It sounds like an anole. If it is a gecko, then no, it is not attracting a mate. If it is an anole, then yes it is attracting a mate. Only males do this. So, you are seeing a male anole, flashing his bright red dewlap.

  3. I believe that means it is a male. Can be a show for mating or a sign of aggression. I am not sure though. I would keep researching.

  4. The picture you provided is of a Green Anole (not a gecko). The 'red blob' is called a dewlap. Only the males poses a dewlap. The dewlap is used to communicate with one-another, they usually use it to court females or a territorial display towards males. There displays can include 'head bobbing' and 'push ups'. They may also preform these displays when approached by a human in order to take claim over their territory, telling you to leave.

  5. is it eating normally? it could be a lava bliser and it could block its trachea take a siringr and give it luke warm water!
