What does it mean when a cat shakes it's head?

Does it mean it has fleas or something. i usually find with my cat that when I am nearby he always shakes his head and I just wondered if it meant, hello, go away, etc...

  1. Means that the cat probably has ear mites. take a look in the ears . if you see lots of black debris then your cat is infected with mites and needs treatment.

    Advocate and stronghold is a deterent for mite but you also need to get era drops from the vets and to clean out your cats ears daily until the mites have cleared.

Hi, my cat seems to have hairballs, he always shakes his haid and does stranges noises but never throws out a hairball. maybe he has the same problm, i took him the vet and they told me it was nothing, my cat is still alive and is tottally ok, eventhough the first days I was worrid as h**l. I would suggest you to go to the vet.

  4. Sounds like he has ear mites and he needs treatment from the vet. if left the irritation can cause ear infections and aural haematomas. If he is an old cat get his ears checked for polyps

This is probably caused by something crawling around such as mites, fleas or dust.  You should take him to the vet and they will give you this solution that you drop into the cat's ears and massage ear gently. Take a paper towel and wipe out.  It really works. Your vet also will ask you to do it on a regular basis.
