What does it mean when a couple go on a "break"?

My boyfriend said he wanted to go on a break but not "break up" what is that supposed to mean...?

It means to see other people, for the time being. I wouldn't do it though, unless you are a player.

its like a temporary break up, which means you can sleep with other people and not be accused of cheating because you was on a break. He might just want some space, guys always do it.
