What does it mean when a girl is ON her period?

I know what a period is and the menstrual cycle etc. but when people say having s*x on the girls period what does that mean? Like you have s*x the day she is supposed to get it? And I've heard its very messy. But does it still count as having s*x on her period if she doesn't bleed? Explain what it means for a girl to be "ON" her period.

having s*x with a girl while she is on her period means having s*x with a girl while she is bleeding from her period. If she's not bleeding she's not on her period (unless of course she was a virgin and you took her virginity - sometimes that makes girls bleed)

I don't know exactly what you mean by "does it still count as having s*x on her period if she doesn't bleed".  Do you mean if there's no blood during the intercourse?  In that case, yes, it still counts.  Having s*x during a girl's period is not always a bloody mess.

Having s*x during the ON cycle is messy and most girls won't want to do that. Lot's of bleeding but if you DO have s*x during this period or the day before it starts her chances of getting pregnant are low. Be sure to use a condom anyway. The bleeding starts off slowly and may not even be noticeable on the first day. The whole process only last 4 or 5 days on the average anyways.

I think when girls say they're having s*x "ON" their period - they're just wording it kinda weird. They probably should really say "I had s*x DURING my period". I'm not an expert, but I'd say typical periods last around 4-6 days. And yes, s*x is extremely messy during a girls period because of the blood. That's weird that she would say she's on her period, when she's not bleeding. Usually periods start off really heavy, and then by the end (like the last two days), her period could be really light and show almost no signs of blood....so maybe she's just on her last day or something, therefore it appears to be almost no blood.

"On" in this case means "currently having".  If you have s*x when she is expecting her period, that is not the same as having it when she is "on" her period.

To reduce the mess, a woman can use a couple of types of internal protection while having s*x during the period.  The Instead disposable cup or a sea sponge.  Neither protect against sexually transmitted infections or pregnancy.
