What does it mean when a guy cancels plans to hang out with you?

Okay so I just got done with my first week of school and I'm already starting to get feelings for my ex again. Hes been acting really different and nice to me which is really unusual for him. So my friend who is close friends with him told me that he said he kinda liked me. So then on Friday we were on the bus and he asked me if I wanted to go up the park and hang out with him. All of the other times we'd gone to the park we either ended up hooking up or last time we both had our first kiss. So he knows what will probably end up happening if we go to the park. So he told me to text him later to see what time to go. So I texted him and he said he didn't care. So we decided that we'd go on saturday. So when I texted him today he told me that he couldn't because him and his family went out of town, but I'm not sure if I believe him because on the bus he said that he had nothing to do all weekend. So do you think he's lying and he was just messing around with me or do you really think his family really went out of town?

What I think is that you don't trust or believe him, and if that is the case, you should move on.  If he is lying to you, he does not care about you.

If he is messing around with you he is a t**t but y'know sometimes stuff does happen with a short notice,  I wouldn't question him about it.  I'd just wait until he comes back and ask him out again...
