  1. When a guy catches the garter, it's the male equivalent to when a girl catches the bouquet: he/she will be the next to get married.

However, by my experience, this little superstition isn't very reliable. I've caught 3 bouquets in my life (one was literally thrown at me, LOL!) and there are *plenty* of people who have gone on to get married before me. I've yet to see my day of walking down the aisle :(

  2. he is next to get hitched

  3. he's an unlucky man lol jk :-)

  4. It means that he's suppose to be the next one to get married.

  5. Traditionally, the garter toss is much like the bouquet toss; whoever catches the garter will be the next to wed, supposedly. I don't put much stock in that tradition, or the one that states that the woman who catches the bouquet and the man who catches the garter will marry each other. After, I'm not marrying my cousin's boyfriend, am I?

  6. I think it means that he will be the next guy to get married after the groom.

  7. That he will be the next person get married.

  8. The tradition of the garter toss itself orginated with pieces of the brides clothing being believed to be good luck. Tossing the bouquet and garter were meant to be a distraction so that the couple, particularly the bride, might escape unscathed, with clothing intact. This evolved into a belief that those single people who caught the bouquet and garter would be the next to marry, perhaps even to each other.

Hey, Peachy Keen! I'm sending you a mental bouquet-toss. Who knows, it couldn't hurt... Kisses!

  9. that he'll be the next to get married

  10. it's like throwing the bouquet but for men

i think it's trashy to have the man go up your dress in front of all your guests and throw your garter into a bunch of single guys.

whoever catches it is supposed to be the next one to marry.

  13. Pretty sure it's just a fun game like the bouquet toss; he's supposed to be the next one to get married. Different cultures do it differently; pretty sure it's a Western tradition, but in Argentina the bride wears 10 or more and the groom takes them off and puts them on each of the single women at the wedding.  Just fun, that's all! :)

  14. Catching the garter means he is to marry next. Some people put it one the bouquet catcher's leg just for fun.
