  1. That's calling them a coward.  Balls are associated with being manly and confident, so if somebody is lacking in balls, they are lacking confidence and therefore a coward.

  2. If you're lacking it means that you don't have the courage to do something.

"Balls" is another name for testicles. So if you're telling a guy he won't have the balls to do something, you're attacking his masculinity, saying he's not enough of a man. It basically means that he doesn't have a big enough p***s/testicles, so he's too scared to do something.

  3. If you have balls you are a man, so when someone says that you don't have balls, it means they are not a man, and a man in a sexist way is supposed to be confident, and supposedly a man is supposed to be able to do risky things, and not be scared of anything.

So when they said "Show me you have balls and kiss her" it is like saying, be a man, and kiss her, be brave.  Saying "I didn't think I had the balls for that" is basically saying, "I didn't know I was man enough to do that", or "I didn't know I was brave enough for that".

Balls is basically another term for being a man, or having the guts to do something.

  4. a chauvanistic term that associates bravery with being a male- having the "balls" means you're masculine and dominant. It's just a stereotypical term associating courage and bravery with manliness. A better non-chauvinistic term would be  having the "nerve" or having a "spine"

  5. Have the guts* to do something.

    * We often use balls in place of guts.
