What does it mean when a guy says he wants to hang out?

i have had my eye on this guy for a while now, and we have never really talked before. he just recently sent me a message on myspace and said that we should hang out sometime. does this mean hes interested in me?

it most likely means that he's interested and wants to see if you two can work out. sort of like how some girls like to be friends first. he's scoping you out, seeing what you're like. it could just mean he's interested as a friend, but it probably means he likes you or thinks he might.
