Question:

What does it mean when a mouse fills in its hole? How can I lure it out?

I had caught it once in a humane trap but it managed to get away from me and make its way back into the same spot in the wall as I sealed off all but this one hole in order to catch it. Now instead of coming out for the bait (peanut butter) a second time it simply fills in the hole in the wall with rocks and dirt that must be behind the wall. Removing this has no effect as the mouse simply fills the hole in again. Attempting to scare it out from another entrance to the wall has had no effect. What can I do to get it to come out?

  1. Try reopenning the hole that you sealed off and use a different bait ,,,, A piece of salami or summer sausage should do the trick ,,,, other wise get some mice and rat poison and put liberal amounts in each hole and seal them all off ,,,, Mice and rats are fairly intellegent and have no trouble in disarming spring traps what so ever to get the bait ,,,, Mice and rat poison or glue traps are the best way to handle rodents ,,,, Poisons will of course kill them but there's also a chemical in the glue trap that kills them too ,,,, If any part of the body comes in contact with the glue they are caught ,,,, They are unable to escape regardless of whether it's their foot tail or any other part of their body ,,,,
