What does it mean when a recipe says "dredge"?

You're putting your chops or chicken into flour to coat it ... usually with a few seasonings added.  This is done before frying alot......

It means to coat something in either a flour mixture or a thick sauce.  Just dip whatever it is into the "dredge" mixture then continue the recipe.
