What does it mean when a torrent says seeding?

Ok the file I was downloading says 100.0% but the status is now "seeding" Do I have to wait for it to stop seeding befoe I can use the file? also, how long will it take? I'm using uTorrent.

  1. It means you're now uploading the file to other downloading users and repaying your debt of Karma for downloading it yourself. As a rule of thumb, it's polite to seed until you've uploaded about as much as you've downloaded.

    If you want to be a d**k and just download and never help anyone else, yes you can stop it now, the files are downloaded.


  2. No, it is done. All seeding is like how it said seeding for you that means the download speed will be greater for other people that download.


  3. seeding is when you are giving back to the torrent community. basically people are downloading parts the file you downloaded from you. you don't have to seed but then you'll be a leecher and leechers SUCK!!!

    you should wait until your share ratio is 1 or over
