  1. Clear the drainage hole in the drip tray, this type of aircons need some water from the tray to keep things cool, but it's blocked by some slug or debris & cause your overflow. New versions of window aircons from Samsung, Sanyo or National runs on dry-sump system that doesn't need to be drained & requires very little maintenance other than cleaning the air screen filter. They are quieter & more efficient than American-brand aircons.

  2. There is a small drain somewhere under the frame to drain water that condenses, find the hole it is plugged up with something.

  3. Well it needs water to help the condenser cool off the freon by use of the rear slinger blade. Lots of times the unit will be positioned wrong and the water will come into the house and not outside. What you need to do is reposition the window unit so that it is tilted slightly down in the back. So the excess water will drain outside. That water by the way is being produced by the unit. It is the by-product of humidity being removed from your house. As the hot air inside is cooled by the freon the water drains off the evaporator and into the bottom of the unit. This is normal.
