What does it mean when canaries puff up and stick their heads in their bodies??

Question

I took good care of my canary

daily fruits

its natural seed diet

cuddle bone

you name it

The previous morning i looked into the cage and it looked like he was headless

i though ahh this is normal (some reason)-not a bird expert

sadly the next-this morning when i came down to hear them sing

he was dead

why was this

uhh when it does that.. its just sleeping?

Did you spray any sprays around its cage? My cousins gf always sprayed hairspary in her hair in the room my canary was in... and my mother thinks thats the reason he died.

The only way to really find out what was wrong with it would be to get a necropsy (bird autopsy) done on it at a vet. The puffing up ordeal may not have been even related because birds do that all the time when they sleep but if the sleeping patterns recently drastically changed then it might have got sick. Birds can even get sick and die with a draft.

More than likely it was just "Old age"But I would keep a watchful eye on your other birds,

Give them a Tonic seed like Blue or Golden Maw. you should get this from a good pet shop or try a home bakery they use Poppy seed in baking they might sell you some 1-2 ounces is plenty as you give them a little at a time.

Hello.

When a canary puff it up and act like it goes to sleep all day , or at the bottom of the cage ...usually it means that the canary is sick ...Since the canary is so tiny, you need to help it as quick as you can ...I mostly give it the liquid calls Marvel aid , ultra care ( buy in the pet store , pet birds medicine section ) , put in the smaller cage and let it rests in the dark & warm place ...don't put it in the draft cold area ...it would be fine in a few days ...unless it is really really sick , then ofcourse it would die about 2 days or less . In this case , my heart is with you . ( I have bred canaries for 3 years . )  TM.
