Question:

What does it mean when he says he wants to "Take it Slower?"?

My male friends who are adults in their 30s and 40s, tell me that when a man says this phrase to a woman whom he's been dating, it means the relationship is basically over. Because the man has lost interest in the woman for whatever reason.

My question to men is: why not just end the relationship then if you're no longer interested?

I recently had a man say this to me after we'd been dating for two weeks and were intimate with each other. After I told him that I wanted to just date him and see where it led, he told me that he wanted to "take it slow" to catch up to the strong feelings I have for him.

He said he wanted to get together this week to talk about it. But if he's not that into me any longer, what is there to talk about? I'm not going to be a sexual dalliance for him to keep "on call" just because he doesn't want to pursue something more serious with me.

Who knows if he would have said this, had we not slept together so quickly.

  1. I disagree with your friends.  I think that when a man says that, after having been "intimate" with a woman, it means that what he really wants is to continue to be intimate without being forced to follow any of the rules of being in a committed relationship.  He wants to keep having s*x with you without having to promise you that he's exclusive with you.
