Question:

What does it mean when i have these types of dreams?

okay,to start off im 21 but i just seem to have dreams bout me in school or trying to go to school.im in the school but i can never seem to make it to my classes.and when im not dreaming bout school im dreaming bout softball i have been playing since i was 6 and i played in high school but i quit my senior year so i could work full time.i regret it..anyways in my dreams im either forgetting my equipment or i cant make it to the games.and it feels like im moving in slow motion..and last nights dream it wastaking place at my grandfathers backyard and it was me and my old team from when i was younger we where getting ready to play,but when we where bout to start i couldnt find my catchers equipment..i know it all sounds stupid but i cant seem to understand why i have those types........my high school coach told me after i had quit that college scouts where looking at me..i dont know if he was telling the truth or if he was trying to get me to join the team again.i will never know

  1. Believe it or not this is a very common dream. Fear of failure, or letting people down and letting yourself down is one of the most common themes of dreams. I can't count how many times I've dreamed I was in a play and forgot the lines, or there was a test and I hadn't studied. Most of them are set in high school (I'm 36!) and a lot of them with people I went to school with.

    All it means is that the worries you have in your real life - that you're not fulfilling your potential and that you've wasted your talents -  are just being played out in your dreams. It seems from what you've said that you feel you missed a real opportunity back in school (which is why a lot of your dreams are being set there) and that, as a result, your life has not turned out the way it could have.

    There are some ways you can deal with this issue. You can review your life and the choices you've made since school and then make a list of goals for yourself, goals that seem achievable and ones that might seem impossible but that you secretly long for, and then make a list of steps you could take to move towards achieving those goals. Then take the first small step.

    It sounds like a small thing but having a dream and moving towards that dream can transform the way you feel about your life and make you feel so much more positive and hopeful about the direction your life is taking.
