  1. It means that you got to be with someone when their soul left this world and went to another.  If your presence made it more comforting and easier for them to pass on, then that means that things happened the way that they were supposed to.

    My heart goes out  to you in your time of loss.


  2. It just means that you saw someone die. I don't think that it has any meaning such as now you are gonna die or you are bad luck, it is just bad timing.
