  1. all seats are now classed as airline seats, these are just single seats they may be on round a table of four or on two seats on their own.

Facing means you are facing the direction of travel, backwards means the opposite travelling facing backwards, some people i have come across cannot travel backwards

  2. facing forward in the direction of travel (rather than backwards) and an airline seat is the same as how seats are arranged on an aeroplane. a pair of seats either side of the aisle.

  3. Facing .... Facing Direction of travel

Airline .... Airline style seat (one with a small tray in front unlike a table seat)

    Hope this helps.

  4. Seats on trains are either arranged in fours around a table, or one behind the other, as in an aircraft, Your ticket means that you are sat in one of the latter, facing the direction of travel.

  5. forward facing

  6. I think you mean f acing the engine. Travelling the same direction as if you was walking.

  7. Facing forward and the seat in front is facing foward as opposed to the seat in front facing you. like on an aircraft.

  8. Facing towards the direction of travel

  9. "Facing" means facing the direction of travel. Airline is where the seats are arranged one behind the other, with fold-down tray tables (like on an aeroplane). The alternative is a table seat, where the seats are arranged around a fixed table.

Note that the type of seat and even the direction of travel can't always be guaranteed, so I wouldn't take too much notice of this. Often it depends on what type of train is going to be used on the day and what way round it is when it leaves the depot.
