  1. 20,40 gigabytes ps3 doesn't play ps2 games but the 60,80 plays ps2 games


  2. A PS3 console requires a PS2 GPU and CPU to play PS2 games. The 20 and 60GB have both of these hardware-wise.

    The 80GB has the GPU physically. But the CPU is emulated with software. So, some PS2 games will not play properly on the 80GB.

  3. It means that there is no PS2's chip installed, but a special [program (emulator) creates a virtual PS2's CPU. 80GB supports ~70% of PS2 games. 20GB and NTSC 60GB play almost 100% of PS2 games because they have that chip installed physically.
