What does it mean when my computer says my ipod has been 'corrupted'?

How did this happen? and what can I do to fix it?

That usually means you ejected the ipod without "safetly removing it"

Most of the time...it deletes all of your songs........

Pretty much you need to restart it and lose all your music.  Which is a pain, mine has done the same.  If it's old or there's just a hardware fault or whatever it seems to randomly happen.  Or maybe that just happens to me.

it may have a virus
