What does it mean when people just hang around some people just cause they can't do better?

like if person A said to person B..."if I had money, I wouldn't be dealing with you"....why do people hang around others but if their (the person) situation was better, they would not ordinarily deal with the ones they hang around

i think you have your answer and i also think that everyone feels that way to a certain extent whether they want to admit it or not. personally if i had money or fame and  genuinely liked my friends i would include them not cast them out. i dont hang around people i dont like period so yeah. sounds like you shouldnt be this persons friend.
