What does it mean when somebody calls somebody a "Pug"?

I don't mean "Pug" as in the breed of dog, but a slur that people use to be littler another person, I'm not sure if it is a slur, however i heard somebody say it about somebody else behind their back in a very how can I cay this "Mean Way" so I was just curious of what they were referring to. Can anybody fill me in?

I think it's implies that they are not attractive just like the pug dog...not so cute!
