  1. Agreeing with first poster.  A cough after a remark when the person is not sick usually means they are nervous about what just came out of their mouth.


  2. it mean they are being siakastic or rude. sometimes the case can mean they are just joking around.    like you could stand the and go shut up (*cough*) there telling u enuth lol

  3. If they aren't feeling ill, it generally means they are saying something they think isn't appropriate and are "pretending" to cover it up with a cough.  

    It is a way of making light of a not so flavorful comment, if you will.
