What does it mean when someone says theyve apologized, but "under the bridge"?

  1. could they be refering to " i have apologized and NOW it's water under the brifge?" in other words they have forgotten about it already.


  2. water under the bridge means whatever has happened is over and you should forget about it and start fresh.

  3. If they said something like, "it's all water under the bridge", then they're basically saying it's all in the past and that it doesn't matter anymore.

  4. just like the water under a bridge the problem has passed... it is over with and forgotten
