What does it mean when someone says you're hard to figure out?

People always say that I'm 'hard to figure out' and that its hard to make a connection with me on a deeper level. People also say its hard to get to know me.

I was curious to know what this means because to be honest, I have no idea.

I also have no idea what I do to make people think this.

well People sometimes say that about me because when I'm confiding a problem to someone I usually have a casual, almost cheery voice.. I do it without realising but I subconsiously do it to hide my emotions I think

You do not follow the normal stereotype person.

you must be different in your attitude to certain situations so that people can not figure out what your opinion is going to be.

Maybe you are secretive or don't divulge much information about yourself, making it hard for other's to get to know you.
