  1. if you have deep pits and fissures in a molar tooth, sometimes the dentist will want to seal them over to stop food getting trapped causing decay.

    it does not hurt!!

    all the dentist will do is clean the area with a special fluid, rinse and dry it and then apply the sealant, usually setting it with a light

    it takes minutes and is no big deal, no drilling involved


  2. A sealant on your molar is a super thin layer of material that protects all the little grooves and holes from getting cavities in them. It doesn't hurt at all. They put the material on in a liquid form, and then shine a special light on it that makes it hard. Sometimes, your bite can feel a little funny when you first get them, but that will go away after you chew and eat a little. No big deal.
