  1. Did you check the coolant level in the overflow container?     There has to be some in there as the radiator breathes out and in(as the coolant heats up it is larger in volume than when it is cold.)  The excess collant goes into the overflow container so that when the engine cools down, the previous excess gets sucked back into the radiator keeping it full..

It sounds that you could use another cupful or 2 in there.  The light will go out.

  2. Most likely it's air in your cooling system due to someone not burping or purging the air out of the system when they worked on it.     I had this problem on a 95 Grandam that blew a hose.   I filled it and the coolant light stayed on and I was afraid to drive it 200 miles home.  Had to pay a tow to my dealer who said he'd work on the problem under warranty (it was out of warranty by a few thousand miles)

The dealer said it just took them a few minutes to purge the air out of the system and it was good to go.... DOH !!!!

Usually there's a small purge valve near the thermostat housing on most cars that you open and let the engine run until air stops coming out of it.   Oh and make sure the heater is on so you can purge the air from the heater core and lines as well.

This will also effect your heating as well.   The heater core will have air in it and blow cool or cold air when the engine itself is hot.

  3. It usually means that you have either a bad coolant level sensor or a bad sensor connector.

  4. probably a piece of dirt in the coolant sensor.

  5. It may be your thermostat. I had a similar problem and I had to replace the thermostat

  6. It's probably a glitch in the computer system or a short. As long as you've checked the coolant you're most likely ok.

  7. it means your going to die
