What does it mean when there are lines on my tv?

we just bought a 42 inch flat panel LCD olevia tv four days ago, and today we started seeing wavy lines (like when you are cooking on a barbeque and you see these wavy lines in the air) and there is a line on the right hand side that stays there no matter if we flip through channels..it's still there. Is my tv broken or what? What does this mean? should i stop using it until i get it checked?

  1. See if the distortion is there when watching a DVD hooked up differently.  If its still there then the sets the problem.  If it goes away then you've got a cable? issue.

  2. check your connection, maybe need new cable connection.....also try unplugging it for 20 min. then plugging the tv back in.if that doesn't work take it back before its too late

  3. Easiest way to see if your new Tv is broken is by connecting another TV in it's place and see if it does the same thing.

If it doesn't , then you know your new TV is broken.

I will bet it is the TV itself because it is an Olevia - a cheap and nasty brand.

Take it back to where you bought it from and ask for a refund.

Then buy a Sony or a Samsung.

When it comes to electronics you really do get what you pay for.
