What does it mean when there is a white spot in a picture?

it was my cousins 15 and there was lots of white spot in each picture does it mean its a ghost

A ghost? h**l no, I don't think ghost has anything to do with white spots on the picture....The spots could be dust halos or dirt at the lens. You know dust particles floating in the air in front of the lens can make the picture have white or black spots. Sometimes, sun or bright light reflection on the camera lens can spoil the pictures.

I can say you don't have to get spooked by white, ghost-looking round spots that can appear in inside flash photos. I heard ghost hunters claim white spots are ghosts in the air....That's a lie...Do the white circles show in the exact same spots on the photos?. If it's yes, we'll have some reasons to believe.. I know that sounds creepy, but I don't believe them...

I don't believe that its a ghost although I have heard ppl say that.  It could be a number of things.  Dirty lens, reflection, bad lighting, problems when developing.  I really dont think its a ghost.

That is a common reaction to a picture when you have too much light reflecting on the inside of the lens. Photographers have hand-held light refractors that let them know how much light there is in an area and where the light is reflecting from so they can avoid having these light spots in their pictures (This is part of the reason why wedding photographers are so expensive, the pictures are guaranteed to look great). It depends on how much light there is in the area and at what angle the light is coming from when the picture is snapped by the camera. This is just a light malfunction that is common when taking pictures but can be avoided with practice or outside instruments. A light refractor can be purchased online but they are quite expensive.

In a digital camera, it can mean there is a dead pixel on the CCD chip.  In either a digital or film camera there can simply be a spot on the lens.

Or, it could be a ghost. :)
