Pus is the build up of dead phagocytes (or white blood cells) that have "eaten" up the bacteria from the cut.  If the area is red, hot or swollen this indicates your body's inflammatory response. You should clean your cut with antiseptic and dress it so that the wound remains moist and can heal.

It means it's infected, and pretty bad from the sounds of it. Pour peroxide on it twice a day and keep it covered with a bandage with neosporin on it and if it's not better in two days see a doctor.
