  1. It means they germinate from seed, grow, flower and set seed and die all in one growing "season."  The season will vary, we usually think of last frost in spring to first frost in fall as the growing season, but some plants will germinate in the late summer, grow and then sit around over winter then flower and set seed in the spring.  These are called winter annuals.  In the desert annuals may only last a few weeks if they are dependent is seasonal rains.  


  2. These plants only last for one season. Perennials flower year after year.

  3. They are plants that you plant and they flower yearly.
