  1. A lot of people think they ovulate at a certain time each month, most commonly, about day 14 or so.  Anyway, if someone ovulated on day 14, they will more than likely expect their period on day 28 or so (about 14 days after ovulation).  Therefore they will test at about 14 days post ovulation and should have an accurate result.  Well, that's only in a "text book" cycle.  Many times, women will ovulate later than day 14 (for example, I ovulate on day 23 or so), so if I were to actually ovulate on day 23, but think I ovulated on day 14, it would be way too early to test on day 28.  Hope this is making sense...  Anyway, the moral of the story, it to try to track ovulation as close as possible, as a women never knows exactly what day she will ovulate.  Ovulation can vary from woman to woman.

  2. hi. if you ovulate late it means the egg was released later than usual which would then make your first day of menstruation later than your norm. therfore you may think that you are on the first day of your missed period when you do a test but really it would not be due on that specific day! your pregnancy hormones may be too low at that stage to show positive!!

  3. I had this ,it means instead of ovulating 14 days before your next period you can ovulate 3 weeks before your next period instead.

It happened to me i had my period june the 22nd and i ovulated on the 13th of july nearly 3 weeks later ,

I had a scan which told me i ovulated later than i should of

  4. Every woman's cycles tend to vary in length. Some have cycles that are fairly regular such as every 30-35 days they get their period. Some of us aren't so lucky and have longer cycles or cycles that have no real prediction as to when we will get our period. One cycle may be 35 days, and another may be 55 days, and there's no way to tell how long it will be until that period will begin other than tracking fertility signs. Those typically are cervical mucus(CM), basal body temperature(BBT), and/or position of cervix. A woman does not ovulate until about 14 days before the end of her cycle and then her period begins, unless however she becomes pregnant. So if a woman miscalculates her ovulation day.....say she thought she ovulated but hadn't really yet, and then ovulates the following week and gets pregnant. She does a HPT(home pregnancy test) two weeks following when she thought she ovulated and it's negative, when in reality it's only been one week since she's ovulated. One week post ovulation is too soon to test for pregnancy hormones with a HPT.

  5. Well, if you ovulate later in your cycle, that means your two week wait will be longer until you can reliably test to see if you are pregnant.  Also, ovulating later in your cycle means that you will have a shorter luteal phase and that can spell problems if you are trying to conceive because you normally do not have enough progesterone build up in your system for the baby.  Hope this helps!

  6. There are two parts to your cycle. The first one is called the Follicular phase and it is starts on CD1 (first day of your period) until the day of ovulation. The Follicular phase has high estrogen levels. Then after ovulation, you get higher levels of progesterone, made by the corpus luteum, and this is the luteal phase. It lasts from Ovulation until your next period.

So, the corpus luteum can only make progesterone for about 14 days. If a baby hasn't implanted by that time, the CL dies off and you get your period. So the luteal phase is always constant at around 14 days. The follicular phase, however, can be anything from 10 days to .... well... 50+, I suppose. In other words, many women DO ovulate late, or early, if their cycles are off and their follicular phase is wacky.
