I have 3 betta tanks , but only 1 betta (charlie) is blowing the bubbles. The other 2 ( Jack and Butch) are doing great, just no bubbles.

  1. Male bettas build what is called bubble nests. They do it often, sometimes when air pressure changes. It's normal. They do it in case a female wanders by (though she won't in your tank.)

  2. It is comepletly normal. It means that he is mature enough for mating, the female lay the eggs in the surface bubbles.

  3. It means he's calm, relaxed and ready to mate.

  4. This is normal. male bettas do this because they are the caretakers of the young. When the fish spawn, the female releases the eggs and the male releases the sperm. The eggs fall to the bottom and the male picks them up and puts them into the bubbles. Its called a bubble nest. I have four males and about every two weeks mine will make theirs. At one time, I had some females in the hopes of breeding them. The females got some kind of fin rot and died. As far as the males go, theyre pretty versatile fish.

  5. its happy

  6. It might be because of low oxygen levels. Bettas have labyrinth lungs, which enables them to breathe air for a short period of time. The tank might not have enough oxygen, and therefore the betta must come up to the surface to obtain his oxygen, leaving bubbles.

However, the most likely reason is because he's happy, and lusting for a female. Bettas are smart fish (although this varies from fish to fish), and he could just be having fun.

  7. It's standard for male bettas. They'll blow bubble nests for breeding especially, but sometimes they will just do it because they can! It's completely normal and I think it's cute.
