You uterus gets ready to make a baby every month. The months that doesn't happen, it sheds the lining it grew which would have supported an ovum. That's your period. Old blood is brown, fresher is red, until it's exposed to air anyway.

It's normal. It's just the color it has turned once it leaves your body. It happens to me sometimes and I was worried, until I asked my friends if it was the same for them, and it was.
