What does it mean when your washing machine floods your toilet?

When we use our washing machine your toliet backs up and sometime floods. How do we fix this?

  1. Obviously there is a clog, blockage, or something causing a backup. LOL! If it didn't do it before try all you can to find the clog and clear. Look for traps , etc. if you have a basement. If no basement then your options are more limited. If it helps any, I use a pressure washer to clean out my crummy little ac drain line. However, you do this at your own risk ;)


  2. Either there's a blockage or the pipe was sized incorrectly. Time to call the plumber.

  3. could be a venting problem, or could be the way your washer

    drain is tied in to the main stack/vent

  4. It's probably a partially blocked sewer line.  Call  a drain cleaning service, unless you can DIY  with a rental power drain cleaner.  It's best to have a pro do it the first time so you can learn how it's done.
