  1. It could mean several different things.

It might mean that you have 20 % of your total number of ancestors identify themselves as white.  But if your Mother says she is white, you may be as much as 70% white, DNA-wise.

So, if 20% of your ancestry is white, you are somewhere between 20 and 70% white.

Pretty much like many other folks, so why not worry about collecting whatever info you can find about your actual ancestors and not worrying about their so-called 'race'

  2. It means that you have white in you.

  3. The math is fine.  It means that 1 in 5 of your ancestors self-identified as white.  So if you collected the names of 10,000 of your ancestors (all those from whom you are descended), 2000 (20% of 10,000) would have identified themselves as members of the white race.

  4. Not a lot.

I agree with the earlier answer - how did you get to 20%?  If it was one Grandparent that would be 25%.

You are whatever you want to be.  25% in my opinion is mixed race if that makes you feel any better.

  5. It means 80% of your ancestors were something other than white. In the end, you are who you are. Does it really matter what the math of your ancestry was?

  6. well apart from the fact that 80% of your ancestry wasn't white,

It also means that you must have a rich and varried culchure to research, Enjoy and be proud of who you are.

  7. Means your mathematics is off.  How do you get 20%?
