  1. its like u have the money for something u want but u cant get it

  2. the expression the way I've heard it, "you can't have your cake and eat it too", means that enjoyment or reward comes sometimes at the expense of sacrifice;

    For example, a high school student may run for class president; he wins, and in doing this, has to give up some of his extra-curricular school activities (perhaps sports) to commit the time he needs to represent his class.

    By saying to him, "you can't have your cake and eat it too" you are basically saying he's made the choice to represent his class and, by doing so, has given up other things he really enjoys.

    You can't have everything -sometimes life is about choices.

  3. it dont mean nothin. whoever thought of it was a real ___ (fill in da blank)

    why da ____________ (fill in da blank) wud u want a cake if u cant eat it?

  4. It means you can't eat the cake and then still have it -- once you take advantage of an opportunity, person or situation, it's gone and you don't get to make the choice again. Usually people will say this in situations like you can't be hypocritical.

  5. you can have most of what you want, but not everything.  let's say you got a dream job and the only thing that would make it better would be to have a reserved parking space right in front of the entrance.  you can have the job but you can't expect to have every little perk, too.  sometimes you have to compromise or give something up.  you can have that cake, but do you want the pounds, too?
