Are there any known agreements that imply for a country to do something if they recognize a genocide?

Does the United Nations Genocide Convention have to acknowledge the Genocide for it to be accepted or must a nation recognize the genocide ?

I have a research project to do on Genocide, so I would appreciate it if you would give me the place where you got the information from.
