What does it take to be a Physical Education teacher at an elementary?

Currently live in NYC and curious to what degrees I need to become a Gym teacher (Physical Education teacher)...Is there a fast way to get around it or is an associates enough? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

An associate's is not enough. You need your bachelor's to begin with, and you will need your master's eventually. There's no quick way around the degrees. You'll need to major in health and physical education (or something very close to that - sometimes it has slightly different names). You'll also have to pass some standardized tests before you can get your teaching certificate.
