I've got an interview coming up for a bank teller. I know it's not the best job in the world, but it's not the job I want the most--it's the salary and location. Anyway, I just want to know what to project myself as for the interview. If you were looking to hire somebody for a teller position, what qualities would you like them to have?

  1. Hey Connie,

I worked as a teller this summer and last summer and I had a lot of fun. You definitely want to portray yourself as a fun, amiable, and well-mannered person.  Being a teller is really like being a customer service representative - you are the middle person between the bank and it's members. Make sure you dress yourself in business attire, smell nice, and be very friendly.

The program we used made it really easy for us to do transactions so you don't need to be able to do math in your head although it would probably help.

If I were someone hiring tellers, I would look for someone that's presentable, courteous, and smart.

Good luck. It's a fun job if you keep an open mind!
