Know what you're doing. Know how the people around you operate. Operate in the moment. Don't take c**p from people. :)

Complete dedication to your career.  You must be good with people, not shy and be able to speak your mind.  Must be able to work long days/weeks, dress for success at all times and be passionate about your work.

Work smart, because working hard ain't gonna cut it.

It's not what you know, it's WHO you know.

Good business acumen.

Hate to tell you this, but years of experience would help.  Why does one wine taste better than the other?  It's all those years of fermentation.
