What does it take to be a good rhythm guitarist?

what should i practice and what does it take to be really good like i'm talking Malcolm Young good! :) i'm just mainly wondering what i should be working on though. thank you.

i like ac dc just the rythm is so simple if you want crazy hard rythem try jazz

A rock-solid sense of rhythm and timing is essential.

Be able to play every chord in multiple places up and down the fingerboard using different chord shapes and fingerings, as each one will give you a different sound.

A great sense of creativity and taste -- being able to come up with guitar parts that fit in with what the rest of the band is doing, that aren't the same rhythm patterns over and over in every song.

First get your chords under your fingers, know them well, AC/DC plays a lot of what I call first postion open chords, these are A, E, D, G and C mostly, and they are not strummed across all 6 strings, they are what I would call power chorded. get a tab book of their songs and learn the way these open chords are power chorded, when you practice don't worry about the whole song take 2, 3 , 4 and so on chords at a time and learn to make the changes, practice slow and clean and get the sound right then work on increasing speed. Practice intro riff untill you get it down then practice verse and chorus and start putting the song together.
