What does it take to become a good pro referee in football?

I am taking the basic refereeing course soon for sunday league qualification and have started to relise and read the oppertunities that there are as part-time or even a career? i would just appreciate some advice and hints and tips.

  1. know the obvious rules of football

    be able to control the players

    dont be afraid to make a decision

    dont let players influence your decisions

  3. it helps if you are a bit short sighted and have your own hawk eye

  4. Stay far away from the bookies.

  5. not being named clattenberg and reffing the mersey derby would get my vote lol..

  6. Once you have worked the lower leagues, you will need to brown nose officialdom within the fa, and attend all the charidee events etc. I guess being a good ref will help and you obviosly know what is needed for that: thick skin, decisiveness, alertness, fitness, a good eye, good football knowledge.
