  1. wow! again, people giving false information astounds me

    1. If you are travelling by AIR you need a passport

    2.  If you are travelling by land or sea all that is needed is government issued ID (such as a driver's licence) AND proof of citizenship (i.e. a birth certificate or green card).

These rules go for travel in both directions.

As of June 2009 you will need a passport for all travel (if the law doesn't get pushed back for the millionth time).

The first poster was correct about those questions.  They are the typical questions asked.  Just answer as briefly as possible and be polite to them and you'll have no problems.

Now if you are talking about MOVING to canada you'll need to visit the Canadian Consulate nearest you and file immigration forms.

  2. You need a passport.

  3. To visit Canada, if you're a US citizen, you need a passport to travel by air or sea.  By land, you need a valid driver's license or similar identification.

You need to be able to answer these 3 questions.

    1) What is the purpose of your visit (Pleasure, business, etc?)

    2) Are you a US citizen? If so, where do you reside, if you work, what kind of work do you do?

    3) How long are you staying in Canada?

If you can answer those 3 questions, welcome to Canada.

To migrate to Canada, you need to apply for temporary visa, live there for at least 6 months, then take certain citizenship examinations I believe.
