  1. As far as i know, they are ending the NASA program soon enough and grounding the shuttles until they come up with another space program.  Perhaps you want to pick another contract with a bit more job security.

  2. Getting a job anywhere is all about knowing someone.  If you want to work for NASA, do an internship with them.  This will get your foot in the door.

  3. Lots of opportunities to work for the Space Program.

You can check the Careers link at www.nasa.gov

And, there are lots of companies that work with NASA.  You don't have to be a civil servant to be part of what we're doing here.

  4. Head over to http://www.firstgov.gov and click on government careers and jobs.

    Good luck.

  5. Go to nasa.gov and check into careers. Or just send me your resume - I work at NASA (MSFC).

If you are in physics, I would recommend a focus on the physics of plasmas, and look into the VASIMR rocket concept. NASA will start working on next-generation spacecraft in 2014-15 or so, and as of now, plasma drive is the most promising concept.

    Good luck!

  6. You used to be able to know someone and get a foot in the door, but it is not that easy anymore. You must have excellent grades and you will then qualify for a work/study program. There are some administrative/axillary positions available with contractors on site that do not require education beyond a diploma, but they are typically full time and do not usually accommodate a student's schedule. Best wishes.
