What does it take to make the Freshmen A Team for bball

See the thing is, I am out of shape. I've been playing basketball nearly everyday for the whole summer. I missed maybe 1 or 2 days before yesterday. My family was in a huge arguement and I have to stay at home so nothing serious happens. So I haven't been going to play basketball which totally sucks. But back to the topic. I have lost like 5 pounds so far. I know losing weight takes time, but I know if I was skinny I'd totally make the team. And thats good because I want that confidence. I am still confident but not as much as I would if I was in shape. And no I am not like very fat. I am medium-sized. But I will still show that I am very good in the try outs and I am confident. So the question is, what does it take? Am I over-confident? Is it going to be hard?

  1. well fat turns into muscle and you need abdominal and leg strength to play basketball so run and workout and practice basketball my doing drills. work towards your goal every chance you get if you are serious. as for you making the team, you can do anything you put your mind to dont let anyone tell you that you cant and if your hard work, dedication to the game, and effort pays off then hopefully you will make your schools jv team.

For me it was a lot and I mean A LOT of running...6 laps around a school track every day...and also gettin both ur upper and lower body in shape..liftin weights..For you, in a way ur fortunate cuz if ur a little overweight and a decent height u'll easily get stronger cuz the extra fat turns into muscle.. However, being overweight usually means ur slower than others but thats not a big problem if u run everyday cuz then u gain stamina which is more important than speed :especially in basketball  :)

  3. DONT  lose weight. weight in basketball is a huge advantage you can push defenders through and you can power your way in
