I know it would take quite a bit of money ( a bldg, staff, supplies, utilities...anything else I'm forgetting, cost-wise?) But maybe I could get loans to help out with that.

But does it take some special kind of license?

Or anything else special?

Thank you guys!!!

  1. I think it depends on which country you are in...

but try typing in Montessori in the answered question section as I know there has been a lot of montessori questions that may help you.

Otherwise try calling other montessori schools and asking if you can meet with the leader to get some advice and contact details (I probably wouldnt contact ones that may be business rivals).

  2. I know that you have to go to school to be certified as a Montesori teacher. There aren't many of them, but you can check around and find out which one is closest to you.

Good luck! I really believe Montessori is the way to teach children. The more Montessori schools, the better!

  3. Check this website http://www.montessori-book.com

You can actually start learning how to teach children using Montessori methods at an affordable price!

  4. First, you would need to research the laws for licensing child-care programs in your city, county and state/province.  These laws can govern everything from plumbing standards to curriculum. For an actual schoool, you would probably need to follow the licensing standards of the local health department, and the department of children and family services, and be inspected and licensed by them.  An in-home program may or may not be accountable to those same standards, depending on size and location of the school.

Next, you would need to hire Montessori certified staff, at least one certified teacher per class as well as support staff (assistants or interns).  If you plan on being the head of school, you should plan on becoming Montessori trained yourself before starting this exciting project.  Teacher training usually takes 1-3 years depending on the traing program you choose.

Finally, you would choose a location (which could be anywhere from a church basement to an old mansion) which allows for classroom and office space, ideally with indoor and outdoor areas for gross motor play.  You need to equip each class with a full range of Montessori materials as well as furniture and housewares.  You would also have to have equipment for outdoor play.

    Good Luck!
