  1. Not clear what you mean but it takes balls to be there anyway.Good luck.Enjoy Peru.

  2. hi:),,  im peruvian :P,,   yes barranca  its a town,  north of lima,  u can  go to barranca  with a bus :),,,   there are many

bus-agencys  goes all the  north coast of peru :),  , CIVA, Ormeño, etc etc.,  check this link : www.peru.com.pe

and if u want to invite this person,,  better go to ur  embasy :),, the usa  embassy  its  in Surco (district), will be  more safety :)

  3. Not sure but I think you might be talking about Barranca in Lima area.

Not too much to getting there, jump on a plane bound for Lima. Get a taxi (inside the terminal before you leave area where you claimed your baggage). Tell them to take you to Barranca.

Below is link to a map of where I am talking about in Lima. The barrio is at the bottom of the map. The arrow in the ocean points in to Miraflores (nice area). To the right of that is Barranca (o?). Next to it is Chorrillos.

You can probably find more maps. Just google something like....Lima map.

    enjoy

  4. As an American citizen you don´t need a visa to come to Peru, but your friend needs one in order to get tu the US, that would be difficult unless there's a student exchange program or the peruvian person has already a visa or he can get one because he can prove to the American Embassy that he's not going to stay there illegaly, or maybe he's lucky and get it on the first try.

Anyway, Barranca is a very small town 120 miles north of Lima, Peru is the size of California and Lima would be at the middle like Monterey, so Barranca would be north almost at the same distance as San Francisco is to Monterey. Given that information, let's talk about getting there (to Barranca).

Lima is a big city with a lot of things you know: Mc Donalds, Burger King, Tony Roma's, Benihana's, Chilli's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, TJ Fridays, Starbucks, etc. etc. Taco Bell & Hard Rock Cafe had to close because they didn't do good business here. We're talking about a city of 8 million persons!

Barranca on the other side has only 120,000 inhabitants and none of the above mentioned. It's not even one of the next biggest cities in Peru: Ica, Arequipa, Cuzco, in the south; Trujillo, Piura, Cajamarca in the north. So if you go there, please take the best bus available wich would be CRUZ DEL SUR or LINEA and it will cost you 15 Soles or ( S/. 15 ) in american dolars around $ 5. Both bus companies are nearby to the San Isidro district wich is a nice place to stay and you can find eather low budget hotels or high luxury ones.

I don't think you can find a map of Barranca on the internet and you really don't need one, just get there and any taxi driver can take you to the addres your looking for. But it would be a waste to come to Peru and only see Barranca, it would be like going to the US and only going to Owensboro Kentucky . . . .  Don't you think?

  5. Barranca is a very small town north of Lima, not much a do but it's relatively close to the Caral site (oldest City in the Americas, it was recently discovered, its an area full of pyramids dating as back as the Egyptians Pyramids and as it's in its early archeological stages, you get to see the archeologists work) It's an awesome place that in the years could even eclipse Machu Picchu!

You are also near Lima which has many tourist atractions.

To sponsor a Peruvian citizen to visit the US, you should first contact your embassy, they will ask you to send a letter mainly guaranting the person will return to Peru instead of staying there illegally.

Here's a map of the Lima Provinces,

Barranca is just below where it says "Mapa de Lima" in black letters :)

There you can see that Supe (the Caral site) and Paramonga another archeological site are quite close.

Also at Barranca there's the "Castillo" castle but it's really an old nice house, and there are restaurants where you can have good fish.

    Enjoy your stay!

  6. I'm guessing you're going to see a woman! :-)

Barranco is a really cool place in Lima. Been there a few times.

Have your lady friend meet you at the airport and take you there in a taxi. I don't recommend you travel by yourself there at night alone from the airport.

Your friend will probably be happy to show you around Lima without a tour group and you'll probably have a much better time.

Have a great time in Peru but make sure you have someone with you that knows where they are going.

  7. In order to get a tourist visa to the US, they have to prove ties to their country, financial, career wise, family, etc.
